Balm on the wounds, after first missed the Europa League and subsequently did not convince the violets in the new twelve-league. “I am very satisfied with the preparation. We have consistently enforced all content that we have set ourselves. However, it will be crucial that we implement it when it matters ” – Thomas Letsch
Head coach Thomas Letsch warned in the preparation not only once that the 6: 1 against Rapid must disappear from the heads. Although the results in preparation were changeable (defeat to Wiener Neustadt, Red Star Belgrade, victory over Dinamo Zagreb) Letsch was completely satisfied. Personnel hardly changed anything in the squad. The game philosophy will also be designed in 2019 very pressing. Only Red Bull Salzburg manages a faster ball capture after a ball loss than the violets (average 7.88 passes). However, the violets have to cope with the second most (!) Ball losses in the league. Often the violets act hastily and give the ball off lightly. As a result of the intensive pressing extremely much effort is operated, but the team often brings by the ball losses even for the pay of the work. Vienna Austria will have to act patiently against a third division and minimize these many unnecessary ball losses. The dress rehearsal succeeded with a 9-0 win against Traiskirchen – a team from the Regionalliga Ost – in an impressive manner. It will certainly not be as clear in the Merkur Arena on Friday. Nevertheless, between the GAK and Austria Vienna, a prediction on the favorites win fifth in the table of the Austrian Bundesliga obvious.
